LEARNING OUTCOME #4

LEARNING OUTCOME #4

In high school I had a really good way of conducting peer review in English classes. The first part was to write a rough draft that would be read over by three other classmates. As they did that the writer of the paper would end reading the paper to the group as they went through along to find any spelling or grammar mistakes. Then there was a sheet they had to fill out with questions on what needed to be changed, what was really good, and any other things that could have been moved around or changed. I think having that amount of work already doing peer review prepared me pretty well for this class. This section on peer review comes from Project #3.

In this section of Danielle’s paper I first started off with looking into how her hook could have been done a little bit different. Instead of starting with the pandemic itself, I thought it might be a good idea to start with the fact we are experiencing a pandemic this very moment. Although in the screenshot of the paper I found an area where a comma was not needed, and another sentence that could have had it location changed a little bit.
For this section overall I thought it was really good, besides the thesis that I thought could use a little bit of work. When doing peer review it not only about catching the mistakes that are in a paper but also letting someone know the things they did well in. I thought Danielle did a really good job on starting off that sentence.

Overall, I think my peer review skills have not only improved since the start of the class, but for the final paper I believe I am beginning to excel at this skill. Normally I would try to find one or two things on a page that could use work, but for this assignment I decided to put a lot of effort into making sure all of my opinions got out there.
